Govt to launch National Health Insurance Scheme
Scheme would be introduced in 26 districts of country which generally lag behind in healthcare.
The Government would soon launch National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to ensure health services to the poor.
Official sources told Radio Pakistan that it will be for the first time that the poor will have access to best medical facilities both at the government and private hospitals.
Initially, the scheme would be introduced in 26 districts of the country which generally lag behind in healthcare. It would eventually cover more than 100 million people for intricate surgeries and the cure of life threatening diseases at the district level in the public and private empanelled hospitals.
The scheme will cover cash-free treatment for major diseases including cardiovascular, diabetes mellitus, life and limb saving treatment, implants, prosthesis, end-stage renal diseases and dialysis, hepatitis, organ failure and cancer treatment.
