A contingency plan has been prepared to meet any eventuality during monsoon season.

In an interview with Radio Pakistan, Chairman National Disaster Management Authority Major General M. Saeed Aleem said Disaster Management Authorities at Federal, Provincial and District level will work in close coordination to keep the losses at minimum during monsoon rains.

Chairman NDMA said graph of damages has been coming down during the last three years due to effective steps taken by the Authority in coordination with other departments.

He said the Metrological Department has forecast less rains during July, August and September this year as compared to the same period last year.  However, he said there is uncertainty about the spread of the rains in different regions.

Saeed Aleem said media has an important role to play in keeping abreast the people about the latest possible flood situation in any part of the country.
