Dar reviews anti-money laundering measures
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar reviewed the progress on measures and enforcement actions against money laundering and terrorism financing. In a meeting chaired by Mr Dar, the director general of the Financial Monitoring Unit (FMU) shared the recent progress made by Pakistan in this regard and apprised the participants of details. The Foreign Office officials stated that a number of meetings have been held with the diplomatic community in this regard.
Ministry of commerce intensifies efforts to boost exports
The Ministry of Commerce has stepped up efforts to explore new markets and increase the export of value-added goods. Under the new market initiative, the seventh round on the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Thailand is scheduled to be held on March 7 in Bangkok. Both sides have already completed the text of the agreement and shared their initial request lists and tariff reduction modalities. The first round of FTA negotiations was held in September 2015 in Bangkok.
Pakistan set to export its manpower to Azerbaijan
Pakistan is poised to sign an agreement with Azerbaijan for the export of manpower to the fast-growing country, in addition to buying oil and gas from the energy-rich Central Asian region.
Stocks rebound after two-day rout
Stocks rallied after a two-day rout, with the benchmark KSE-100 index recovering 374.15 points (0.76 per cent) to close at 49,588.3.
