â€˜Derailment of democracy will not be allowedâ€™
Political leaders say no compromise will be made on the constitution, democratic norms.
Jamaat-e-Islami and Pakistan Peoples Party have said derailment of democracy and violation of constitution will not be allowed under any circumstances.
The two parties at a meeting in Karachi on Sunday discussed the situation arising out of the marches of Pakistan Tehreek-e Insaf and Awami Tehreek.
Later, talking to media, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Khurshid Shah and Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Sirajul Haq said no compromise will be made on the constitution, democratic norms and parliamentary form of government.
Khurshid Shah, in his remarks, said he is in touch with different political parties to find a solution to the current political crisis. We want to come up with such an agenda which is acceptable to both the government and the protesting parties.
Sirajul Haq said some elements wanted to see bloodshed on the streets of Islamabad on the 14th August but their designs were foiled by the government by removing hurdles and containers from the roads. He was optimistic that political parties will definitely find out some political solution to the current situation.
