Abida Hussain (Former Ambassador):

The visit of National Security Advisor of United States is good news. Pakistan should be consistent in its bilateral relations with United States. After a long time Pak-Russia relations have been improving and the government should focus on to further strengthen its relations with Russia. Russia has strong influence in Central Asian region and Pakistan could take maximum advantage of it. Pakistan could improve its exports in Central Asian region. United States must have to play a role of mediator to resolve Kashmir dispute to ensure peace in the region.

Dr. A.Z. Hilali (IR Expert):

The US National Security Adviser Lt Gen H.R McMaster is considered as close companion of Donald Trump and has a close eye on South Asian region. Pakistan is a coalition partner of United States in war against terrorism. The visit of US Security Advisor to Pakistan and meeting with high security officials and Prime Minister clearly indicates that New US administration wants good and solid relations with Pakistan . We have ups and downs in Pak-US relations in the past but United States is well aware of the fact that Pakistan could play a significant role in peace process in South Asian region. United States should also take care of interests of Pakistan and eliminate its reservations. US must have to play its role to resolve Kashmir dispute and stabilize the balance of power in the region.

Dr. Talat Wizarat (IR Expert):

The new United States administration is lacking the experience of foreign policies. It seems that the main focus of Trump’s administration is to promote national interests of United States. We are still unsure about Trump’s policies.

Brig (Retd) Tipu Sultan (Defense Analyst):

The visit of US Security Advisor to Pakistan is a good development. Both Pakistan and United States must have to focus on to improve bilateral relations . COAS Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa should have expressed his reservations to US National Security Advisor on Eastern and Western borders and also the effects on Pakistan of the US striking the mother of all bombs in Afghanistan. Our law enforcement agencies are continuing the operation against militants with full devotion and are determined to wipe out the terrorism at all costs.
