Pakistan says it has no desire to engage in a conventional or nuclear arms race in the region.

This has been stated by Press Attache to the United States, Nadeem Hotiana in an article published in Washington.

He emphasized that Pakistan stands for peace in South Asia.

He criticized a recent New York Times editorial that painted Pakistan as a country that is recklessly building its nuclear arsenal.

The diplomat said Pakistan was not the first to introduce nuclear weapons in South Asia but India did it.

He said Pakistan has consistently called for a dialogue with India to address all issues of mutual concern, including terrorism.
