Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has invited Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) employee to join hands with the government in its plan to make the organization a more responsive and profit earning entity.

He was talking to PIA Air League union officials in Islamabad on Friday.

Matters pertaining to the revival of PIA came under discussion during the meeting.

The Prime Minister said PIA has lot of potential to regain its past glory, but consistent efforts are needed in this regard.

He said 15 million dollars have been provided to PIA to procure 15 aircrafts on dry lease basis. Besides, 16 billion rupees have been given to PIA as bailout package.

The Prime Minister was informed that Air League is currently the representative body of more than 8,000 PIA employees.
