In India, a person was beaten to death and three others were seriously injured in an attack by a mob in Assam state.

The mob suspected them of being cattle thieves.

The incidents of lynching are on the rise in India and a number of Muslims have also been beaten to death by extremist Hindu groups on the issue of cow slaughtering.
