President Mamnoon Hussain has arrived in Turkmen capital Ashgabad on a three-day official visit. On his arrival the President was welcomed by Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan and other senior officials. Pakistan`s ambassador to Turkmenistan Murad Ashraf Janjua was also present on the occasion. Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Resources Jam Kamal Khan is accompanying President Mamnoon Hussain. The President will attend the inaugural ceremony o 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabad tomorrow (Sunday). A one hundred and thirty member Pakistani contingent that has already reached Ashqabad will participate in the games. Over fifty five hundred players from sixty four countries will also take part in these games.

Pakistan win T-20 Independence Cup 2017

Pakistan won the T-20 Independence Cup beating World-XI by 33 runs in the third and final match in Lahore on Friday.  Batting first Pakistan scored 183 for the loss of four wickets in stipulated twenty overs.  In reply, World-XI could manage 150 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in twenty overs. For Pakistan, Ahmed Shahzad remained top scorer with 89 runs and Babar Azam scored 48. Ahmed Shahzad declared Man of the Match while Babar Azam got Man of the Series award.  Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has congratulated Pakistan Cricket team for winning the Independence Cup. In his tweet message, he expressed gratitude to World Eleven for paying a visit to Pakistan. Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif also greeted Pakistani team for winning the Independence Cup. In his message of felicitation, the Chief Minister said the Pakistani players gave opportunity of happiness to the people of the country.

Independence Cup Tournament promoted positive image of Pakistan at int'l level: Interior Minister

Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal says Pakistan became an unprecedented story of success during the last four years due to upward trajectory in diverse fields. Addressing a news conference in Lahore today, he said incidents of terror have reduced by eighty to ninety percent as compared to 2013 and peace has been restored in the length and breadth of the country.  The Interior Minister said a star studded world eleven Independence Cup tournament imparted a positive and soft image of the country at international level.  

ICC congratulates Pakistan for successful hosting of Independence Cup

The International Cricket Council has congratulated Pakistan for the successful staging of the Independence Cup series against the World XI at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.  In their messages, ICC Director Giles Clarke and ICC Chief Executive David Richardson thanked the people of Pakistan for embracing the World XI players. They said the series has demonstrated Pakistan’s passion and love for cricket, as well as its ability to provide an environment in which international cricket stars can show their talent, said a media release by the ICC on Saturday.

World Eleven Players Leave for Dubai After completing visit to Pakistan

Players of World Eleven cricket team have gone back to Dubai after a historic visit to Pakistan.  They were warmly seen-off by the PCB officials at the Lahore airport.  Talking to media on the occasion, the Captain of the World Eleven Du Plessis expressed the hope that other teams will also come to Pakistan after this tour. He said he is proud of playing in Pakistan and hoped it will help bringing international cricket back to Pakistan.  

International Youth Boxing Tournament To Be held in Spain on 19 September

Pakistan Boxing team is participating in the International Youth Boxing Tournament 'Boxam' Benidorm (Alicante) which would begin at Benidorm, Spain from 19 September. The vent will conclude on 24 September. 

Asian Junior Rowing Championship To Be held in Singapore on 11 October

Pakistan Rowing team is participating in the Asian Junior Rowing Championship scheduled to be held at Singapore from 11 October. The event will continue till 14 October 2017.
