In Iraq, lawmakers of Kurdish region have approved holding an independence referendum on 25th of this month in the region.
The Vice-President of Iraqi Kurdish region, Jaafar Aimenky announced the decision in Parliament at Arbil, the capital of Iraqi Kurdish region.
Meanwhile, the United States in its reaction said the plan for an independence referendum in Iraq’s Kurdistan region will distract from efforts to defeat Islamic State.
In a statement in Washington, the White House urged Kurdistan Regional Government to call off the referendum and enter into serious and sustained dialogue with Baghdad.
