British Prime Minister Theresa May has urged Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and UAE to take steps to reduce tensions in the Gulf region.

In a statement, she called on all sides to urgently de-escalate the situation, engage in a meaningful dialogue, and restore Gulf Cooperation Council unity at the earliest.

Theresa May also spoke with the kings of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain and the emir of Qatar on telephone to discuss ways and means to defuse the ongoing crisis.
