War on terror to be won at all costs: PM
Nawaz Sharif says failure in the war against terrorism is not the option and we have to eliminate the terrorism.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif says that we have to win the war against terrorism at all costs to secure the country and future of the coming generations.
He was addressing a meeting of the Apex Committee of Sindh in Karachi on Monday to review implementation of National Action Plan to weed out terrorism from the country.
The Prime Minister said failure in the war against terrorism is not the option and we have to eliminate the scourge of terrorism.
He said National Action Plan has not been prepared by just a single party but had endorsement of all the political parties of the country. He said two points out of twenty point agenda has been implemented immediately in the shape of passage of twenty-first constitutional amendment and amendment in army act for setting up special trial courts.
Nawaz Sharif said Apex Committees have been formed in the provinces for implementation of National Action Plan. He said their meetings are held regular to review progress in this regard and taking decisions which are being implemented.
The Prime Minister said people are looking forward for tangible results of the National Action Plan.
He said problems and impediments in the way of National Action Plan implementation were clearly expressed in the meeting and they find their solutions.
The Prime Minister said interrogation matters regarding Baldia Town incident also came under discussion. He said it is a very serious issue.
In his remarks on the occasion, the Chief of the Army Staff Raheel Sharif said that Karachi played great role in our economy. He said peace in Karachi means prosperity for Pakistan and meaningful effort are required in this regard.
Raheel Sharif said operation will continue without any discrimination against all criminals, beyond ethnic, political, religious, sectarian affinity.
He said Rangers operation has created environment for sustained peace and stability. He said Police should be empowered as apolitical and effective force.
A delegation of PML(N) Sindh parliamentarians called on Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in Karachi today.
Party matters related to Sindh and overall political situation came under discussion during the meeting.
Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif visited Corps headquarters in Karachi on Monday and held meeting with Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif.
DG ISI and Corps Commander were also present on the occasion.
The Prime Minister was given briefing on implementation of National Action Plan to eliminate terrorism from the country.
The Prime Minister was apprised about action taken in the wake of operation Zarb-e-Azb.
The Prime Minister appreciated intelligence based action in Sindh.
