MAMNOON

President Mamnoon Hussain has said that multiple projects and continued efforts of Aga Khan Development Network are making a visible difference in the lives of people and infrastructure in Pakistan.

 

He was talking to President of Aga Khan Council for Pakistan Hafiz Sherali who called on him in Islamabad on Wednesday and handed over a letter from Prince Karim Aga Khan.

 

The President appreciated the role of Aga Khan Development Network, Aga Khan Foundation and Aga Khan Health Services in promoting many important social services projects, especially in northern areas of Pakistan.                  

 

PAK-UAE:

Later, talking to outgoing Ambassador of United Arab Emirates to Pakistan Essa Abdulla Al Basha Al Noaimi in Islamabad on Wednesday the president said that Pakistan was the biggest target of terrorism in the region. 

 

The President said that the pace of economic development will increase in the country after successful elimination of the menace.

 

Mamnoon Hussain said Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was a sincere friend of Pakistan. He hoped that the successive governments in the UAE will also continue the same legacy towards Pakistan.                        

 

ECP-PTI

Election Commission has given another opportunity to PTI to provide details of party funding by the 7th of next month.

 

At its hearing in Islamabad on Wednesday, the Commission rejected plea of the PTI for halting proceedings of the case.

 

The Commission said this will be the last opportunity for PTI to submit details of party funding.

                   

Later talking to media, the petitioner Akbar S Babar said that Imran Khan continues to run from accountability.

 

He said, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the PTI Chairman deactivated the process of accountability instead of eradicating corruption.

 

He said PTI Chief is pursuing the agenda of confrontation among state institutions for his vested interest.

Minister for Prime Minister's Public Affairs and Grievances Wing Sheikh Aftab Ahmad has said that the government is committed to protect fundamental rights of the general public.  

 

He was addressing a meeting to review progress about redressing grievances received by the wing in Islamabad on Wednesday.

 

He said no citizen should be neglected in providing the basic rights.

 

The Minister directed the concerned authorities to address the complaints and cases of general public forwarded to them by the Wing as soon as possible.           

 

AMIR ZAMAN

Federal minister for Postal services Maulana Amir Zaman has said that the federal government is taking concrete steps for the development of Balochistan.

 

Talking to newsmen in Loralai on Wednesday he said several key road projects being funded by the federal government are in progress in Loralai and other districts, which on completion will reduce distance between Balochistan and other provinces.

 

He said the educated youth of the province will be provided employment in the federal department.

Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif says the PML (N) Government has abolished VIP culture and now social services are afforded to the common man as well.

 

He was addressing a ceremony during his visit to Kidney Centre in Multan on Wednesday morning.

 

He said kidney transplantation facility will also be introduced in the centre shortly.

 

The Chief Minister said the Government will ensure availability of free of cost necessary medicines to patients in hospitals.

                           

Later during a visit to Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital in Muzaffargarh the Punjab Chief Minister directed to ensure completion of first phase of extension project of 250 beds hospital by January 15, next year.

 

The project is being completed at a cost of over nine billion rupees.

 

He was told that Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital Muzaffargarh will be expanded upto 500 beds in future.

 

Shahbaz Sharif said on completion of expansion plan the will be given the status of a Medical College.  

 

OPERATION

Sindh Police have arrested nine wanted criminals in Larkana.

 

Weapons have also been recovered from them.

 

They were wanted to law enforcement agencies in a number of criminal cases.

 

NDMA

Tarbela Dam has reached its Maximum Conservation Level.

 

National Disaster Management Authority has warned population downstream the Dam to remain vigilant for any unexpected water discharge.                           

 

SCHEMES

Punjab Provincial Development Working Party has approved two development schemes with an estimated cost of more than fifty one million rupees.

 

The schemes were approved in the meeting of PDWP for current fiscal year.                

 

ACCIDENT

Three persons killed and two injured in a car accident on National High way near Chichawatni on Wednesday.

 

The injured have been shifted to the Nishter Hospital Multan. 

  

AZADI TRAIN

The Azadi Train is receiving an enthusiastic response from the general public on the second day of its stay at Lahore Railway Station.

 

People from different walks of life, including children are coming in large number to witness cultural heritage of the country.

 

People are anxiously waiting in long queues to visit the picture galleries highlighting the Pakistan movement and sacrifices of the national heroes.

 

The Azadi Train will leave for Multan on Thursday morning.

 

REGISTRATION:

The registration process of unregistered Afghan refugees started across the country on Wednesday.  

 

Sources of Afghan embassy told our Peshawar correspondent Falak Niaz that twenty-one registration centers have been established for the purpose.

 

These include eleven centers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa five in Baluchistan, two Punjab, two in Islamabad and one in Karachi.

 

According to an estimate over one million Afghan refugees will be registered during the process.

Minister for Kashmir Affairs Ch. Barjees Tahir has said that Pakistan achieved independence because of sustained struggle of Muslims of South Asia.

 

Addressing a function in connection with Independence Day in Islamabad on Wednesday, he said Muslims offered immense sacrifices for creation of Pakistan.   

 

The Minister complimented Kashmiris for their relentless struggle against Indian subjugation and said the day is not far off when they would achieve their destination.

 

Azad Kashmir President Sardar Masood Khan has said that India is committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Occupied Kashmir.

 

He said India will have to account for its genocide of Kashmiris.

 

The AJK President said Indian brutalities notwithstanding, Kashmiris are fully resolved to continue their struggle till realization of their right of self-determination.

 

He said Kashmiris believe that Pakistan is incomplete without Kashmir.                                    

 

NADIA-NAQASH

Indian police arrested Dukhtaran-e-Millat General Secretary, Nahida Nasreen in Srinagar.

 

 A spokesperson for DeM said in a statement in Srinagar that a large contingent of police raided the residence of party general secretary on Tuesday night and took her with them and lodged her in Women's Police Station.

 

Meanwhile, police also arrested Chairman of Islamic Political Party, Muhammad Yusuf Naqash during a raid on his residence and shifted him to an unknown destination.

       

SIKH-PROTEST

Hundreds of Sikh activists from North America staged a protest rally in front of the UN Headquarters in New York on the eve of India's Independence Day on Tuesday.

 

They were carrying Khalistan flag demanding independence for the Indian Punjab.

 

The demonstrators were chanting anti-India slogans and carrying placards inscribed with slogans like Free Punjab - End Indian Occupation.

 

Speakers at the rally urged the United Nations to support them to call Punjab Independence Referendum to secede from India to create a separate Sikh homeland, Khalistan.

           

CHINA-US

China has urged the United States and North Korea to stop threatening each other and work toward a peaceful resolution of their dispute.

 

In a telephonic conversation with his Russian counterpart the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said the two countries should permit no one to "stir up an incident on their doorstep."

 

SQUASH

The 24th Asian Junior Squash Individual Championships 2017 being held in Jordan will continue till 19th of this month.

 

This event has attracted 128 players from 13 countries include China, Pakistan, India, Iran, Malaysia, Qatar and Sri Lanka.
