Federal Cabinet Meeting: PM says record funds disbursed to provinces in tenure of PML-N govt
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi says record funds have been disbursed to the federating units under the PML-N government. Chairing a meeting of the Cabinet in Islamabad, the Prime Minister said all development and energy security initiatives had either been completed or are in completion phase, which speaks volumes of the development and energy security endeavours bearing fruit during the PML-N government. The Prime Minister apprised the cabinet about his recent visit to Karachi saying that during the visit he announced 25 billion rupees for Karachi and 5 billion rupees for Hyderabad under a comprehensive package to be implemented by the federal government with fixed time lines and costs. He said under the package, one hospital and medical college would be set up in Karachi, extension of green line metro to other areas of the city would be ensured while additional resources would be provided for new water projects. About Hyderabad package, he said a university and a medical college would be established in Hyderabad while additional grant will be provided for Hyderabad Municipal Corporation besides upgrading infrastructure in all industrial states. Secretary Interior briefs the Cabinet on laws relating to arms licenses. The Prime Minister constituted a Committee to collate proposals of Cabinet members. The Prime Minister directed Interior Ministry to revalidate data regarding licenses issued, adding that 90 days grace period should be given to all license holders of Prohibited Weapons for registration with NADRA.
Pakistan making concerted efforts for restoring peace in Afghanistan- both countries discusses ways and means to enhance bilateral trust
Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua called on Afghan President Dr Ashraf Ghani in Kabul on Tuesday. They discussed bilateral relations and overall geo-strategic situation in the region. The two sides also held delegation-level talks. Tehmina Janjua led the Pakistani side while Afghan Deputy Foreign Minister represented his country. The delegations discussed ways and means to enhance the level of mutual trust.
