Punjab Home Minister Shuja Khanzada martyred in Attock blast
Suicide bomb blast claimed 12 lives and nearly 20 others injured.
Punjab Home Minister Col (R) Shuja Khanzada was among 12 people martyred in a suicide bomb blast at his guestroom at village Shadi Khan in Attock on Sunday.
At least 20 people were also injured in the blast.
The suicide bomber entered the building disguised as a visitor and blew himself up. As a result roof of the "Dera" caved in burying the Minister and about thirty other people.
Police and Rescue teams reached the scene and started shifting the injured to hospital.
The martyrdom of Col (R) Shuja Khanzada has been confirmed by Punjab Chief Minister's Adviser Dr Saeed Elahi.
The Minister was listening to complaints and problems of the people of his constituency when the blast occurred.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, and Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif have strongly condemned the incident. Interior Minister has directed to provide helicopter to rescue the injured.
Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmad has also reached the scene to supervise rescue operation.
Punjab Chief Minister has sought report from Inspector General Punjab Police and ordered probe into the incident.
