Punjab Home Minister Retired Colonel Shuja Khanzada and fourteen other people were martyred in a suicide bomb blast at his Dera in village Shadi Khan of Attock District.

Speaking in Radio Pakistan’s program, Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid said: “Col (Retd.) Shuja Khanzada was a brave man and a brave solider. His serving for nation will always be remembered. He was a hurdle for the terrorists and his efforts for eradication of terrorism will not go in vain.

Nation is determined to wipeout terrorism till the elimination of last terrorist. Elimination of terrorism from our mother soil will be proof of our love and affection with Col. Shuja Khanzada. Such cowardly acts cannot weaken the resolve of the Government against terrorism. Whole world has been appreciating Pakistan’s efforts and sacrifices in war against terrorism. President of Belarus has also appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in this regard.”

Minister of Law, Punjab Rana Sanaullah said: “Terrorists were afraid of Col Shuja’s stance against terrorism. He was just like a rock in front of terrorists. He has taken some strict actions against terrorists for having peace in Punjab province. His vital role against terrorism must be appreciated. Even today, he sacrificed his life for the sovereignty of the country. Several times he talked to me regarding the presence of terrorist elements in hazru. Many terrorists have been killed in successful operation Zarb-e-Azb. Government and Pak Army vowed to continue the war against terrorism till the elimination of last terrorist.”

Punjab Chief Minister's Special Assistant on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique said: “Col Shuja Khanzada was just like my elder brother. He has sacrificed his life for the nation. He was a very kind and humble person. Terrorists could not break the determination of the nation with such coward acts. Rescue activities at the place of incidents are underway. Pak Army has also been involved in rescue activities. 11 dead bodies have been found so far. Nation must appreciate Col Shuja’s efforts in war against terrorism.”

Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resource Raja Ashfaq Sarwar said: *“Government, nation, Pak Army and Pak Rangers are on the same page to wipe-out the menace of terrorism from the country forever. The Prime Minister has also expressed deep grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Punjab Home Minister Colonel retired Shuja Khanzada. Col Shuja was having much love and affection for the country. He will always be the part of our memories because of his un-tired efforts for the betterment of the country. Whole nation is the state of grieve and sorrow on the death of such a brave leader.”

Provincial Minister for Food Bilal Yasin said: “Col Shuja Khanzada’s death is a big loss for the country. He remained with me in flood relief activities in Rajan Pur. He was a very loving, friendly and a humble man. Such cowardly attacks cannot dent the determination of the people to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the country. I always have respected him and could never forget him. His efforts against terrorism are unforgettable. ” *Khalil Tahir (Provincial Minister for Health): *“We do not have the words to express grieve and sorrow on the death of Col Shuja Khanzada. He was a very kind and noble man. He was blessed with many god gifted abilities. His efforts against terrorism will never be forgotten. His shahadat will be considered as a great loss for the nation. We also express grieve over the death of other innocent people in this coward terrorist attack.”

Provincial Minister for Minerals Sher Ali Khan said: “This is a highly condemnable incident. But such coward attacks could not dent our determination to eliminate the terrorism at any cost. The blood of Col Shuja Khanzada and his workers martyred in the incident will not go in vain. The Minister was listening to complaints and problems of the people of his constituency when the blast occurred. Col Shuja always involved himself in policies to eradicate the menace of terrorism from our soil.”

Special Assistant to CM Punjab Malik Saleem Iqbal said: “I know Col Shuja Khanzada for a very long time. He undoubtedly was a brave man. We pray for his sole may rest in peace. Whole nation is in sorrowful state. We should be united at this critical time to convey a strong message to terrorists that such coward attacks could not affect our determination to eradicate the menace of terrorism from our mother soil.”

Senator Shibli Faraz said: “I know Col Shuja Khanzada personally and his death has made the whole nation sad. PTI’s chairman Imran Khan has announced that PTI will not nominate any candidate on Shuja Khanzada’s seat in by-election. The statement of Imran Khan expresses his respect for the brave leader. Nation should be determined to eradicate the terrorism from the country. Operation Zarb-e-Azb has been progressing successfully and Pak Army needs the support of the nation in this regard. We should be united to wipe-out the terrorism.”

ANP leader Sitara Ayaz said: “Today’s incident is sorrowful. Suicide attacks have been reduced to a great extent after the successful operation held by Pak Army against terrorist. We express our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for them to bear this irreparable loss with courage and fortitude. The time is not far, when Pakistan will be a peaceful country. Many ANP’s leaders have also sacrificed their lives in fight against terrorism. We pray that Allah Almighty give patience to the bereaved families of martyred personnel.”

Defense Analyst Maj. Gen. (R) Jamshed Ayaz Khan said: “Such cowardly attacks cannot dent the determination of the people and whole nation stands united to eliminate the scourge of terrorism and extremism from the country. CAOS with the help of entire nation is determined to eradicate the terrorism once and for all. Shuja Khanzada was a national asset and his death has once more unified the nation against the extremists.”

Defense Analyst Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Moinuddin Haider said: “It is peculiarity of great and resilient nations that accept the challenges at forefront and respond the adversities with equal vigor. The death of Colonel (Retd.) is a sad incident indeed. He was my colleague and vey determined person. He worked tirelessly to control the terrorism. He was following all the banned extremist outfits and their activities to hunt them down. I’m shocked and grieved over his brutal assassination. Since he took lead and bold actions against terrorists, this attack is sort revenge and coward retaliation by them. Comprehensive policies and collective actions by civil and military administration will defeat the enemies of Pakistan.”

Defense Analyst Maj. Gen. (Retd.) Athar Abbas said: “Col Shuja Khanzada was just a teacher for me. He was a very brave solider. He was always on front-line in war against terrorism. Terrorists were afraid of his planning against terrorism. The terrorists have fled from Punjab to other areas. He was serving as Interior Minister of Punjab but was not bothered about his own security. We pray that Allah Almighty give patience to his family and his soul may rest in heavens.”
