CPEC to ensure sustainable development
The package of initiatives include, infrastructure, energy cooperation, industries, agricultural development, tourism and financial cooperation.
The China Pakistan Economic Corridor is an economic growth belt which will be constructed mutually by China and Pakistan according to scientific planning to ensure sustainable development.
According to official sources, the fruits of economic corridor construction will be shared by two countries jointly and shall be spread across all areas.
The significant nodal cities agreed so far in China and Pakistan include Kashi, Taxkogran, KLhunjerab, Peshawar, Islamabad, Lahore, Multan, Sukkur, Quetta, Karachi and Gwadar and such other nodes which may fall within the CPEC in future.
A number of additional Pakistani cities will also be connected via road or rail networks planned for the Corridor under various routes.
The Corridor is a comprehensive package of cooperative initiatives and projects which covers the key areas of connectivity.
The areas include information network, infrastructure, energy cooperation, industries and industrial parks, agricultural development and poverty alleviation, tourism, financial cooperation as well as livelihood improvement including municipal infrastructure, education, public health and people-to- people communication.
The envisaged energy projects under China Pakistan Economic Corridor will address the current energy crisis and will have positive impact especially in the backward areas prone to more energy shortages than the urban centres of the country.
