The Christian community in the country is celebrating Easter today [Sunday].

Strict security arrangements have been put in place at churches.

According to Ministry of Interior, there will be optional holiday on 17th April, 2017 (Monday) as Day after Easter observed by the Christian Community.

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has felicitated the Christian community on the occasion of their Easter festival.

In a message from Lahore this morning, he said that we share the Christian community's joys today.

He said that Easter is the name of spending time with deserving people and sharing joys by thinking above ourselves.

Punjab Chief Minister said that the Christian community is playing its due role for country's progress.

He said that believing in all prophets including Hazrat Easa is the mandatory part of Islam.

He said that brotherhood, unity and forgiveness are the main teachings of Hazrat Easa.

He said that all minorities in Pakistan enjoy equal rights and Punjab Government has taken concrete measures for their welfare.

The Chief Minister said that the constitution of Pakistan has provided guarantee for the equal rights and complete protection to all minorities.

He said that the need for inter faith harmony has been increased in Pakistan at present.
