Experts laud Govt’s economic reforms agenda
November 16, 2019

Dr. Salman Shah (Economist):  The current government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has introduced reforms for the betterment of country’s economy. All economic indicators, including Pakistan’s stock exchange, are heading in upward trajectory. Measures are being taken to reduce inflation rate, strengthen national economy, and enhance exports.  The present government remained successful in steering the country out of economic crisis. The government is also taking concrete measures for provision of domestic gas to the citizens during winter season. We should finalize our agreements to other oil and gas companies to explore our natural sources.

Dr. Shahid Hassan Siddiqui (Economist):   Pakistan economic is strengthening its roots with each passing day due to effective measures taken by the current government.   There is need to generate electricity through hydro power plants in order to control electricity prices in the country.  It is really very difficult for Pakistan to take loan from the World Bank to complete construction of Diamer-Bhasha Dam; however, Beijing can help Islamabad in this regard. The national economy has been put back on right track due to prudent economic policies of the current government.

Tahir Basharat Cheema (Ex-MD PEPCO):  It is unfortunate that the previous governments did not pay attention towards generation of electricity. Electricity through wind and hydro can help meet growing demands of electricity in the country. I think all Pakistanis, particularly overseas diaspora, should generously donate funds to help Pakistan build more dams.  Pakistanis working in the Middle East and other countries can also contribute according to their capacity. Future of next generations will be in jeopardy, if we do not take any urgent steps to build water reservoirs. It is the responsibility of the political leadership of Pakistan to take initiative for construction of dams.

Dr. Gulfraz (Energy Expert): It is need of the hour, we should review previous government’s energy related poor policies which create difficulties for the people. The previous government did not manage the gas issue systematically and did not formulate any solid policies. We should use our own resources to generate cheaper electricity. The government should take steps to generate electricity through Mangla and Tarbella Dams. The policies of PTI-led government are aimed at uplifting the poor segment of the society by creating maximum employment opportunities for people

Air Vice Marshal, retired, Ikramullah Bhatti (Defense Expert): TheKashmir Valley and Muslim majority areas of Jammu and Ladakh regions remained in the grip of uneasy calm and uncertainty on 103rd day today as the residents continued to simmer with anger over repeal of special status of occupied Kashmir and the subsequent inhuman and brutal actions by Narendra Modi-led Indian government. Restrictions under Section 144 remain imposed in the territory amid massive presence of Indian forces. The ban on internet, text messaging and prepaid mobile connections is still in force. People in the Kashmir Valley continue to observe civil disobedience against New Delhi’s anti-Kashmir moves by not attending educational institutions and offices as well as keeping their shops closed for most part of the day. Indian Supreme Court’s decision in Babari Mosque Case is totally biased and unacceptable for the Muslims.

Dr. Farooq Hasnat (Expert on International Relations):   India is involved in massive genocide of Muslims in Indian Occupied Kashmir.  International Community should take notice of ongoing Indian brutalities and atrocities against innocent Kashmir in Occupied Kashmir.  The cheap tactics adopted by the BJP-led regime in India have failed to suppress voice of the people of Kashmir. Indian aggressive policies in Occupied Kashmir are threat to regional peace and stability. India has no other option, but to lift curfew from the held territory.  New Delhi will face strong resistance, once the curfew is lifted from Occupied Kashmir. Pakistan wants to build strong relations with all its neighbors, including India and Afghanistan.  India should respond positively to all Pakistan’s positive and peace gestures.

Professor Dr. Abdul Wajid (Expert on International Relations):  Modi-led regime in India had badly failed to suppress voice of the people of Kashmir through use of brute force.  Pakistan will continue its moral, political and diplomatic support to people of Kashmir.  Resolution of Kashmir dispute is vital for normalization of relations between Pakistan and India.  Unresolved Kashmir dispute is a major threat to regional peace, and stability.
