Erdogan, Putin discuss situation in northern Syria

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in a telephonic conversation have discussed the situation arising out of Turkey's ongoing operation against terrorists in northern Syria.

Turkish Directorate of Communications said in Ankara that the two leaders also discussed regional issues especially latest developments in Syria.

President Erdogan said that Turkey's counter terrorism operation into northern Syria would contribute to counter-terrorism efforts, Syria's territorial integrity and a political solution in the country.

Meanwhile, President Erdogan has made it clear that Turkey's operation in northern Syria would continue until it reaches its aims.

Speaking to reporters on a flight back from Baku, he said he has conveyed to US President Donald Trump that Ankara is not worried about any US sanctions.
