North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un has pledged to expand nuclear arsenal and military potential to defend the country.

In a statement, he said Pyongyang has managed to significantly advance its arsenal despite being subject to economic sanctions.

Kim Jong-un said that North Korea's recent missile tests show continuing progress in weapons programme.
