Russia, China call for restraint by all sides to safeguard peace in Middle East
September 16, 2019

Russia and China have called for restraint by all sides to safeguard peace and stability in the Middle East following recent attacks on Saudi oil facilities.

In a statement, Russia’s foreign ministry said it believed that the exchange of strikes on civilian targets was a direct consequence of the ongoing sharp military and political crisis in Yemen.

The ministry said we believe it is counterproductive to use what happened to increase tensions around Iran in line with the well-known US policy.

In a daily news briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said that it is irresponsible to blame anyone for an attack on Saudi Arabia’s oil facilities without conclusive facts.

Hua Chunying said we hope all sides can restrain themselves and can jointly safeguard the peace and stability of the Middle East.
