Int'l conference on 'Pakistani languages and colonial literature' commences at AIOU

A two-day international conference on 'Pakistani languages and colonial literature' commenced at Allama Iqbal Open University on Friday.

Vice Chancellor Professor Doctor Shahid Siddiqui presided over the inaugural session of the conference.

Speaking on the occasion, he said promotion of Pakistani languages is imperative for maintaining national identity, cultural rituals and harmony in the society.

Renowned historian Professor Fateh Muhammad Malik said the Pakistani languages were kept alive even in the colonial era, which is a matter of pride for us.

He applauded the exemplary services of the university for promotion of languages, literature, culture and traditions and termed it a role model for other educational institutes to follow.

American Poetess Maryland, Chairman Sindhi language authority Dr. Ghafoor Memon, Director General Urdu Science Board Lahore Dr. Nasir Abbas and others addressed the conference.

Renowned scholars from home and abroad also presented their research papers on different aspects of the topic.
