"Sartaj Aziz says India’s test fire of supersonic interceptor missile will further disturb the strategic balance of power in the region"
India today test-fired a supersonic interceptor missile, capable of destroying any incoming hostile ballistic missile, from a test range off Odisha coast. "The test conducted to validate various parameters of the interceptor in flight mode has been successful," Defense Research Development Organization sources said. The interceptor was engaged against a target which was a naval version of Prithvi missile launched from a ship anchored inside Bay of Bengal, taking up the trajectory of a hostile ballistic missile. Last month, the reported successful testing of nuclear-capable K-4 Submarine-Launched Ballistic Missiles (SLBMs) by India from its nuclear-powered INS Arihant has taken India closer to what is described as second-strike capability” in nuclear deterrence. The second strike provides a military the capability to hit back at an enemy in a situation where its land-based nuclear arsenal had been neutralized
"Pakistan and Turkey are determined to eliminate terrorism from their soils and share each other's experience"
Pakistan and Turkey are determined to eliminate terrorism from their soils and share each other's experience. In an interview in Ankara, Pakistan's ambassador to Turkey, Sohail Mahmood said their security forces are in a regular dialogue on the issue to further cement their cooperation on combating terrorism. It is an on-going process and is always on the agenda for further strengthening security and defence cooperation. The Ambassador said negotiations over Free Trade Agreement are continuing and this agreement would open up vast opportunities for the Pak-Turk business communities.
"Pakistan is ready for defeating terrorism and eliminating violent extremism"
Speaking in the U.N. Security Council, Pakistan Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi says, failure to redress genuine grievances of the weak against the powerful created the breeding grounds of terrorism. Terrorism could not be associated with any religion, culture or region. Maleeha Lodhi emphasized countering online radicalization and measures to prevent such groups from exploiting the digital space. Pakistan's National Action Plan to counter terrorism contains six specific action points that directly and indirectly aim to counter the narratives and ideologies of terrorists. Pakistan stands ready to share its national experience with the international community to further our common goal of defeating terrorism and eliminating violent extremism.
Analysts and security experts believe that testing of advanced missiles by India will disturb the strategic balance of power in South Asia.
Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal (Senior Analyst): “India is increasing its offensive power that will destabilize the balance of power in the region. This trend is dangerous for Pakistan and other countries of the region as well. India has always been involved in aggressive postures at LoC and the Working Boundary. World powers, including the United States, should consider the opinion of Pakistan in this regard. India is a big country with over 1.20 billion population. But New Delhi government is spending huge resources on arms build-up and not focusing on the provision of health, education and other facilities to its masses. The defense budget of India has been increasing at an alarming pace and it shows India has expansionist designs in the region.”
Dr. Pervaiz Iqbal Cheema (Senior Analyst): “India has indulged itself in arms race in order to bully other countries of the region. In South Asia, India is the largest buyer of arms and weapons from Russia and the United States. Indian government is also purchasing modern technology and fighter jets from France, Israel and countries. Indian economy is far better than Pakistan’s economy but it is unable to provide relief to its masses. Majority of Indian population is living below the poverty line. Pakistan is the only country in the region that has an ability to respond to any Indian aggression in an effective manner. Pakistan is a nuclear power and has the world’s best army. United States and some other countries are supporting India to create barriers in the way of China’s improving economy. It is an international conspiracy against China. But India is taking advantage of this support to strengthen its military capabilities. ”
Brig (Retd.) Haris Nawaz (Security Analyst): “Pakistan and Turkey are the Muslim countries and have vital importance in Muslim Ummah. Both the countries enjoy strong and friendly bilateral relations with each other. Pakistan and Turkey have mutual agreement to cooperate with each other in war against terrorism. Pakistan needs F-16 fighter jets to combat terrorism but there are still some hurdles in the way of provision of these aircraft to Pakistan by the US. Pakistan is the most affected country by the menace of terrorism and is fighting a crucial and costly war to eradicate it from its roots. Turkey has always supported Pakistan in this war. Pakistan has achieved remarkable successes in ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb so far. Hideouts and networks of the terrorists have been dismantled and the security forces are ensuring to stop terrorists from re-grouping.”
