Qatar has signed a deal to buy F-15 fighter jets from the United States.

Under the agreement, Qatar will purchase thirty six fighter jets worth of 12 billion dollars from the United States.

The sale will increase security cooperation and interoperability between the U.S. and Qatar, the Pentagon said in an emailed statement.

According to a statement issued by the Pentagon, the sale of fighter jets will increase security cooperation and interoperability between the United States and Qatar.

The statement added that the US Defence Secretary James Mattis and Qatari Minister of State for Defence Affairs Khalid al-Attiyah discussed the current state of operations against the Islamic State group and the importance of de-escalating tensions so that all partners in the gulf region can focus on next steps in meeting the common goals.
