Pakistani companies to participate in two-day international franchise expo in US
At the expo, Pakistani companies will have the opportunity to negotiate business deals with American franchise companies.
A delegation of Pakistani companies from different cities is representing Pakistan at two-day International Franchise Expo, 2017 beginning in New York, the United States. The Pakistani delegation is led by the US Commercial Service.
Fresh moves to curb money laundering, terror financing
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has taken some new steps to combat money laundering and terror financing, directing all banks and development finance institutions (DFIs) to take strict measure for minimising risks. The SBP made a number of amendments in the regulations for anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT), and asked banks and DFIs for comprehensive assessments to eliminate risks.
Shanghai Electric reaffirms commitment to acquire KE
China’s state-owned Shanghai Electric Power Company Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to go ahead with its plan of acquiring K-Electric from Dubai-based Abraaj Group, brushing aside all rumours regarding its possible retreat from the $1.77 billion business deal. Despite the development, K-Electric’s share price dropped almost 3% or Rs0.20 to Rs6.77 with a volume of 7.59 million shares on a bearish day at the PSX.
