"Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has created history by going to JIT on Panama paper and recording his statement. It is to strengthen democracy, democratic institutions and rule of law": Analysts
Recording of PM's statement before JIT is a milestone for rule of law and supremacy of the Constitution.
Talking to media in Islamabad, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif says never before in the history of the country, three generations of a family were held accountable the way his family is being done. The present process of accountability has been extended to period beyond his birth. He expresses the confidence that the outcome of the ongoing inquiry would not be different as he and his family have done nothing wrong.
Analysts on Telephone:
Dr. Miftah Ismail (Chairman, Board of Investment)
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has always promoted the politics of serving the people of the country. He has set an example for other political leaders as well that PML-N believes in supremacy of rule of law. PTI filed the case of money trail against Nawaz Sharif in Supreme Court. But when same case was filed against Imran Khan, he started claiming that the case against him cannot be filed at this forum. Prime Minister was never involved in corruption during his tenures. We are damn sure that PM will be cleared from the JIT.
Talal Chaudhary (Leader, PML-N)
The democratic system in Pakistan is strengthening and rule of law in the country has proved its worth as a sitting Prime Minister recorded his statement before JIT. It is a fact that Prime Minister has nothing to do with Panama leaks as his name was not in Panama leaks. We are pretty hopeful that Prime Minister and his family will get a clean chit from JIT over baseless allegations.
Tahira Aurangzeb (Leader, PML-N)
Prime Minister has conveyed a message that no one is above the rule of law. This is a clear indication that PML-N respects the state institutions and believes in supremacy of Law. The Prime Minister has set a precedent. There is no proof of the allegations against the Sharif family. The present process of accountability has been extended to period beyond his birth.
