Khyber Pakhtunkhwa tax-free budget for the next fiscal year with an outlay of 487.88 billion rupees was announced in Peshawar on Monday afternoon.

Presenting the budget in the Provincial Assembly, Minister for Finance Muzaffar Said Advocate said it is a balanced budget.

The province will receive over 250.89 billion rupees from federal divisible pool. It will also receive 30.14 billion rupees for the war on terror. 

The federal government will provide 68 billion rupees as hydel net profit and arrear of electricity and 19.41 billion rupees as royalty on oil and gas.

The province owned receipts have been estimated as 54.42 billion rupees.

The Finance Minister said 174.88 billion rupees have been allocated for Annual Development Programme. Under the programme, 911 ongoing development schemes will be completed and 614 new schemes initiated.

He said 97.54 billion rupees have been proposed for education sector reflecting 21 percent increase. He said 29.95 billion rupees have been proposed for health sector.

The Minister said special attention is being given to improve law and order and 32.74 billion rupees have proposed for police to improve its capability.

He said special measures will be taken for the welfare of poor women aged and special people.

The Finance Minister announced 10 per cent increase in the salaries and pension of Provincial Government employees. He also announced up-gradation of government employees serving in BPS 1 to 15.         

Earlier, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cabinet approved budgetary proposals for fiscal year 2015-16.
