The United States is sending troops to Somalia after nearly two decades.

The US Africa Command said the deployment is for logistics training of Somalia's army to enable it to fight the extremist group al-Shabab.

The United States pulled out of Somalia after 1993, when its two helicopters were shot down in Mogadishu and bodies of Americans were dragged through the streets.
