North Korea seeks substantive outcome in economic cooperation talks with South

North and South Korea held a meeting today to discuss new agreements for economic cooperation in the backdrop of US concerns.

The talks in the border village of Panmunjom were led by the South’s Unification Minister Cho Myoung-gyon and Ri Son Gwon, chairman of the North’s committee for peaceful reunification that handles cross-border affairs.

The meeting aimed after U.S. concerns the warming of ties between North and South Korea nuclear and missile programs.

Meanwhile, U.S. State Department official met with South Korean foreign ministry officials in Seoul on Monday and discussed North Korea and other alliance issues.
