Analysts praise Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts
September 15, 2020

Dr. Khurram Iqbal (Expert on International Relations): India has a long history of accusing Pakistan in the issues in which it is involved itself.  India is involved in cross-border terrorism since long. In 1971 war, Mukti Bahini played its role in division of Eastern and Western Pakistan. Moreover, India is also involved in assisting financially to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan to carryout terrorist activities in our tribal areas Pakistan. Till date the Indian government is also involved in state sponsored terrorism in Balochistan. The apprehension of Kulbhushan Yadhav is clear example of Indian involvement in our country. It seems that United States has changed its priorities from countering terrorism to countering China. United States is chasing an imaginary enemy that is China as China is emerging as new global and economic power. United States wants to use India as its strategic partner to stop the increasing influence of China in the region. It is the matter of time that United States is violating all international laws in its desire to counter Russia and China whereas China seeks an honorable place in the world. India is taking the advantage of its alliance with the super power and adopting aggressive and hegemonic policies. India is a country that is being lead by an extremist political wing RSS that was once banned for its terrorist activities. Both India and United States are accusing Pakistan for what Pakistan has not done.

Lt Gen (Retd) Naeem Khalid Lodhi (Defense Analyst): Pakistan has always worked for peace and prosperity in the region. India and United States are the strategic partners and United States is using India to counter Chinese emerging economy. It is the need of the time that Pakistan must also review its foreign policy. While Pakistan has played a vital role in convincing Afghan Taliban to come on negotiating table with United States, yet the American accusation on Pakistan is completely unfair. Pakistan's efforts in this regard has also been acknowledged by the world. The anti-Islam elements are taking the advantages of non-unity of the Muslim world. United States has also acknowledged the contribution of Pakistan against terrorism. Pakistan needs to respond the joint Indo-US statement in an effective way. The recent joint statement indicates the pro-active foreign policy of India and if Pakistan does not respond it then it may lead to increased US pressure on Pakistan. The organizations indicated in the statement have already been banned by Pakistan.

Dr. Farooq Hasnat (IR Expert): The Indo-US strategic alliance is aimed just to counter China in the world. The successful peace agreement between United States and Taliban is the result of efforts of Pakistan. The efforts of Pakistan in this regard is acknowledged by United States itself. Pakistan at the time is focusing on its economic development with the Chinese support through China Pakistan Economic Corridor which is a game changer project. The present Indian government is puppet in the hands of an extremist wing RSS that is always involved in anti-Muslim propagandas. The world must have to realize the ground realities and decide for the real peace spoiler. India is habitual of accusing Pakistan in every way in order to affect its improving image in the world. The Indian human rights violations and atrocities in Indian illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir is in front of the world. India is always involved in aggression at LoC and the Working Boundary and its forces are directly targeting the civilians.

Dr. Muhammad Ali (Vice Chancellor, Quaid-e-Azam University): It is a good decision on the part of the government to resume educational activities as we cannot afford to close the educational institutes for an indefinite period of time. The need of the hour is that we should be very cautious in order to avoid the resurgence of COVID-19 pandemic. The universities and other institutions must strictly comply with the guidelines and SOPs issued by the government. Half of our courses will be face to face while half will be online. We will still give priority to hybrid education. After two or three months the things will be much under control then the government will definitely review its policies. I would like to convey message to the students and staff get education but strictly follow the guidelines and SOPs to remain safe from the pandemic.

Dr. Masoom Yasinzai (Rector, International Islamic University Islamabad): The condition emerged after outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic is much under control as compared to that it was in March and April this year. It is the matter of the future of children so we cannot afford the educational institutions to remain close for a long period of time. The strict implementations of guidelines and SOPs issued by the government for educational institutes must be ensured to keep our children and staff safe from the pandemic. If am hopeful that if educational institutes comply with the SOPS we can compensate the educational loss of the students to a great extent. There is need to wash hands regularly, wear masks and maintain social distancing within the institutes parameters.
