President urges people to strictly follow precautionary measures during Eid-ul-Azha

President Dr. Arif Alvi has urged the people to strictly follow the precautionary measures during Eid-ul-Azha to overcome the threat of COVID-19.

He was speaking at a contract signing ceremony of high speed mobile broadband services for Muzaffargarh and Rajanpur in Islamabad on Wednesday.

The President expressed satisfaction that the corona cases are now receding after witnessing its peak last month.  He said credit for this goes to the government's lockdown policy which is now being emulated by other countries as well.  He said the compliance of SOPs on the part of the public during Ramazan ul Mubarak also helped control the situation. He said our software exports increased by at least thirty percent during the last year.

Referring to the increase in remittances and exports as well as positive trend in the stock market, the President said this indicates the situation is improving on the economic front. 

The President stressed the need for ensuring access of broadband serves throughout the country saying it is important to create opportunities for our youth. He said Pakistan can be taken forward on fast track basis by promoting digital economy, digital education and digital finance. 

In his remarks on the occasion, Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Aminul Haq said the project of high speed broadband services for Muzaffargarh and Rajanpur will benefit about two million people.  He said the broadband services will be further expanded in the remote and so far neglected areas.

He said the government has been running diverse projects in the light of the vision of digital Pakistan.  He said the government is committed to develop and promote a globally competitive ICT sector and industry.
