Flash flood kills 22 in AJK

In Azad Kashmir, at least 22 people have been killed and seven others injured in a flash flood at Lesva in Neelum valley. 

According to initial report of State Disaster Management Authority, Lesva bazaar has fully been damaged in the flood. As many as, 120 houses, 70 shops were fully damaged while two basic health units, six vehicles and a number of motor bikes washed away in the flood.

Rescue activities have been initiated. Phone service remained off which resulted in delayed response from the authorities concerned.

On the directives of Prime Minister AJK Raja Farooq Haider Khan, a relief camp has been established wherein food items, tents and blankets are being provided to the affectees.     

President, PM express deep grief and sorrow over loss of precious lives

President Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan have expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives in Neelum Valley due to heavy rains and flooding.

In their separate statements today, they expressed sympathy with displaced people of the valley and prayed for the early recovery of injured persons.

The Prime Minister directed the concerned departments to carry out relief activities in affected area.

Pakistan Army, civil administration continuing relief and rescue operation

Army troops are assisting civil administration for rescue and relief of affected population due to Land Slide near Laswa village and Flash Flood in Neelum Jhelum  River at Nauseri, Danni.

According to ISPR, fifty-two stranded individuals have been heli evacuated to camps and safer places while, search operation for drowned persons is in progress.

Relief effort includes provision of food, rations and medical care. Relief camps were also established.

Ali Amin Gandapur expresses grief and sorrow over loss of precious lives

Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Ali Amin Khan Gandapur has expressed deep sense of grief and sorrow over the loss of life and property owing to flash floods in Neelum Valley.

He also directed the Chief Secretary Azad Kashmir to provide all-out aid to the affectees.
