Abdullah Gul (Independent Defense Analyst):
In recent terror attack in New Zealand, over 49 people died as the terrorists attacked on two mosques. The world condemns terrorism in any form. The terror attack is a question mark on the performance of New Zealand’s security agencies. The attack leaved an impact that terrorists have no religion at all. The world knows that Pakistan has successfully fought a war against terror as we have been badly affected by this menace and also sacrificed many precious lives in this regard. Pakistan has always worked for regional peace and stability. Terrorism has become a global issue and Pakistan has fought this menace for the peace of entire world. Muslim community is being targeted in New Zealand today.
Dr. Huma Baqai (Expert on International relations):
The terrorists rampaged through two mosques in the quiet New Zealand city of Christchurch during afternoon prayers Friday, killing 49 worshippers and wounded dozens more. It was a highly condemnable incident. Today, terrorism is quickly linked with religion - to be more precise, with Islam. When a terrorist attack occurs in the Western world, the media is quick to talk about Islamist extremists and other catchy terms that conveniently link a whole religion to violent destruction. Muslim community is being targeted in New Zealand. Islam is a religion of tolerance and peaceful coexistence with all of humanity both as individuals and communities and has come up with a code for relations between Muslims and non-Muslims living in the same society.
Lieutenant General, retired, Raza Muhammad Khan (Defense Analyst):
The terrorist claimed the responsibility in tragic incident of firing in New Zealand is an Australian citizen. The attack, which came around the time people were attending the mosques for Friday prayers, was the deadliest in the western nation’s history. The terrorism may happen anywhere and it should not be linked with any religion. The western media and others are quick to link the entire religious belief system to terrorism. Peace has been the distinguishing mark of Muslims in the East and the West from the advent of Islam to this day. Islam encourages peace and security due to the extremely important effect they have on making life stable for humanity and making advancement possible in all fields. The attack is also a deliberate attempt to demonize legitimate Muslim political struggles.
Dr. A.Z. Hilali (Expert on International Relations):
New Zealand is one of the most peaceful, peace-loving and generous nations in the world and its policies for minorities are clear. The government provides security to minorities like its own citizens. The terrorism has no religion, sect or ethnicity. The only agenda of the terrorists is destruction. The political leaders around the world expressed their sorrow, shock and anger at the tragic incident in New Zealand. The terrorism is a global issue and it affects all the region and continents of the world. Terrorists also use violence in a less focused way to express protest and rage, to advance messianic and fanatic religious agendas, and for even more obscure pathological reasons. Pakistan views this terrorist attack as an assault on the values of freedom of conscience and association
Brigadier, retired, Said Nazir (Defense Analyst):
Islamophobia existed in premise before the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, but it increased in frequency and notoriety during the past decade. The attack on mosques in New Zealand was planned. The suspect allegedly published a racist manifesto on social media before the attack. The real cause of bloodshed on New Zealand streets today is the immigration program which allowed Muslim fanatics to migrate to New Zealand in the first place. Many forms of right-wing terrorism are international terrorism, drawing on international networks, ideas, and personalities from around the world.
Dr. Shahzad Akhtar (IR Expert):
I have spent almost seven years in New Zealand for study purpose and have deep contacts with other communities in New Zealand. New Zealand is among anti-nuclear and most peaceful countries in the world. Racism is even least involved in politics there. The Australian citizen involved in this shocking terror attack was not a psycho and committed the act in his senses. The attack in New Zealand appears to be motivated by white supremacy. PM rightly blamed Islamophobia for the mass shootings that killed at least 49 people.
