China 's military has set up a new logistics support force as part of efforts to reform and modernize the world's largest armed forces.

Chinese President Xi Jinping conferred flags to joint logistics units as the Central Military Commission (CMC) established a joint logistics support force .

Addressing the ceremony in Beijing, President Xi, also chairman of new force CMC, said the move "is a strategic decision to comprehensively deepen national defense.

He also urged the new force to carry out real battle training.
