Israel 's ministerial committee for legislation has approved a controversial draft bill aimed at legalising Jewish settlements built on private Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank.
However, the bill will now pass through parliament and be ratified by the Supreme Court before becoming a law.
The international community considers all Israeli settlements in east Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank as illegal.
