Topic:  Pakistan urges United Nations to take notice of Indian attempts to bring demographic changes to occupied Kashmir.

In a letter to the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, the Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz has specifically pointed out the issuance of permanent residence certificates to non-residents, allotment of land to retired Indian army personnel and issuance of land to non-Kashmiris in the occupied territory. Sartaj Aziz also mentioned the establishment of separate townships for Kashmiri pundits and settlement of West Pakistan refugees to convert Muslim majority of the valley into a minority and preempt the results of UN administered plebiscite.  The Adviser said non-implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions is leading to a grave human tragedy in occupied Kashmir.Implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions is the only way to end the immense sufferings of millions of Kashmiris and bring peace and stability to South Asia.Meanwhile, Pakistan's permanent representative to the United Nations Maleeha Lodhi has forwarded the letter of Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs to the world body.

UN officials urge india to lift social media ban in occupied kashmir

The United Nations special reporters have urged the Indian government to lift a ban on social media sites and mobile internet service in Occupied Kashmir.In a statement issued in Geneva, the U.N. special reporter on freedom of opinion and expression. David Kaye, and the special reporter on human rights, Michel Forst, said that the ban had disproportionate impact on the fundamental rights of everyone in the Occupied Kashmir and had the character of collective punishment.They said such restrictions fail to meet the standards required under international human rights law to limit freedom of expression.

Pakistan urges UN to address deteriorating situation in occupied Kashmir

Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi called for peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute to avert any crisis in region. Pakistan has urged the United Nations to address the deteriorating situation in occupied Kashmir. In a meeting of OIC Ambassadors with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York, Pakistan's permanent representative to the UN Maleeha Lodhi said the escalating tension in the occupied valley can destabilize South Asia. She called for a peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute to avert any crisis in the region.The Pakistani envoy said Kashmir issue is a priority for the OIC to address.She said the disturbing trend of rising Islamophobia is no longer limited just to Western countries but was being witnessed in Asia too where Muslims were facing mob violence every day.
