WB approves financing worth $500m for Afghanistan to boost economy and support Afghan refugees sent back from Pakistan

The World Bank has approved financing worth more than 500 million dollars for Afghanistan to support a string of projects to boost the economy, help improve service delivery in five cities and support Afghan refugees sent back from Pakistan. The bank said the grant, including donor money, worth some 520 million dollars would help the Afghan government at a time of uncertainty.

Industrial sector’s growth target for FY 2017-18 set at 7.3pc

The government has set the target for Industrial sector to grow by 7.3 per cent during financial year 2017-18. According to official documents, manufacturing sector is targeted to grow by 6.4 per cent with LSM growth rate of 6.3 per cent, small scale & household manufacturing 8.2 per cent, construction 12.1 per cent and electricity generation & gas distribution by 12.5 per cent.

Federal govt launches free paramedics' training for FATA youth

The federal government has launched a free paramedics training programme for tribal youth under its Skill Development Programme. A spokesman of FATA Development Authority told our Peshawar correspondent that youth will be trained in nine different categories. Besides free boarding-lodging monthly stipends will also be given them during the training.
