Pakistan qualify for ICC Champions Trophy final
President, PM felicitate Pakistani team over its splendid victory against England.
Pakistan have qualified for the final of ICC Champions Trophy for the first time in the history beating England by 8 wickets in the first semi-final at Cardiff on Wednesday.
A 118 run partnership between opening batsmen Azhar Ali and Fakhar Zaman led Pakistan to an incredible victory.
Fakhar Zaman scoring 57 off 58 balls with seven 4's and one six and Azhar Ali made 76 off 100 balls. Babar Azam scored 38 while Mohammad Hafeez made 31 off just 21 balls.
Batting first, England were all-out on 211 runs in 49.5 overs. JM Bairstow with 43 runs and JE Root with 46 runs remained the main scores from England side. For Pakistan, Hasan Ali took three wickets, Junaid Khan and Rumman Raees grabbed two wickets each, while Shadab Khan clined once wicket.
In reply, Pakistan made 215 in 37.1 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. Hasan Ali was declared Man of the Match for his spell of 3 for 35.
Pakistan will meet either India or Bangladesh in the Champions Trophy final on Sunday.
President Mamnoon Hussain, Acting President Mian Raza Rabbani, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Finance Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar and DG ISPR in their separate messages have congratulated national cricket team over it splendid victory in the first semi-final of Champions Trophy against England.
They have also expressed the hope that team will maintain winning momentum in the final match on Sunday.
Minister of State for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb has also felicitated Pakistan team for winning the semi-final match against England in ICC Champions Trophy.
In her message, she expressed the hope that national team will give Champions Trophy as gift to nation on Eid to by winning the final on Sunday.
