Maj. Gen. (Retd.) Farooq Malik (Defense Analyst):

“This is the most difficult task of any operation. People have to leave their homes when a military operation is conducted. A large funding and effort is now required for their rehabilitation. This is not an easy task and it requires meticulous planning and preparations. Civil and military leadership is on one page regarding the maintenance of law and order in the former troubled areas. Now, a gigantic task lies ahead of the return of temporary displaced persons to their respective homes and starting of livelihoods. We also need the cooperation of Afghan government and if Kabul does not cooperate with us, we will face difficulties.”

Dr. Zahid Anwar Khan (University of Peshawar):

“Rehabilitation of TDPs is of vital importance. Operation Zarb-e-Azb will be successful only when all these people return to their homes and restart their lives. The TDPs have faced a difficult situation after the operation. Army Chief during his visit to the affected areas emphasized to focus on the rehabilitation of people. Pakistan has taken difficult steps during the last few years. Pakistan is the only country in the world that has rendered the most sacrifices in this costly and protracted war. Afghanistan is interlinked and depended on Pakistan in economic terms. Some international forces are trying to disrupt relations between the two brotherly countries. The extremists have been creating difficulties for both Pakistan and Afghanistan. Afghan government should ensure that these elements do not take refuge in Nooristan and Kunar provinces."
