“The people of North Waziristan set an example by sacrificing their homes and livelihoods for the sake of success in war against the militants. The rehabilitation process of TDPs is underway as peace has been restored in their areas. The incumbent government with the support of the security forces and local administration has been utilizing all available resources for the rehabilitation of these people in their respective areas. The government has allocated a fund of Rs. 100 billion for this purpose. These funds may be increased over time. Terrorism has become a global issue but with the support of Allah Almighty the security forces have managed to clear most of these areas from the shackles of terrorists. The tribal people are known for their traditions. They could play a vital role in progress and prosperity of our country.”

Ghous Muhammad Khan Niazi  (Senator, PML-N):

“TDPs are our brothers and sisters who had to leave their homes and livelihoods for the sake of operation. This is a huge sacrifice for the protection of motherland. Government and army both are serious to eradicate the threat of terrorism. Army Chief has visited the troubled areas frequently to get the first hand knowledge of life there. The President during his address to the parliament had announced to set aside Rs. 100 billion for the TDPs. Before operation, these areas were considered as safe havens for terrorists. But the situation has completely changed now. Education will play a major role in changing the mindset of people. The new generation of these areas will play a big role in national development.”

Muhammad Nazir Khan (Leader PML-N, FATA):

“Pakistan will soon be a peaceful country as terrorism has reduced to a great extent because of the consistent efforts of the government and the security forces. A delegation of North Waziristan led by me called on President today and briefed him on the current situation in tribal areas and their issues. The government is planning to construct a road from Miran Shah to Datta Khel which is a positive development. The government is also ensuring to construct schools and hospitals for the tribal people. Civil and military leadership are on the same page regarding the elimination of terrorism from the motherland at all costs. The tribal people have been appreciating the development activities in their area and are satisfied with the government initiatives.”

Mian Adil Zahoor (Assistant Director Operations, FDMA):

“Around four hundred and fifty thousand people from various tribal agencies had to leave their homes and livelihoods because of the military operation against extremist elements. So far, seventy percent people have returned to their homes. The repatriation of TDPs of North Waziristan and other agencies will be completed by November 2016. Government is also giving a return package to each returnee family. This package includes Rs. 10,000 as fare and Rs. 25,000 in the form of ATM card. They are also provided with food ration and items of daily use to help facilitate their lives. The government has also set up a Rehabilitation Unit to expedite this process. Dr. Abdul Siraj (Analyst):

“The stance of Army Chief is highly appreciable who launched an operation to rid the country of the menace of terrorism. This operation gave the people courage and weakened the extremist elements that were hiding in the populace. Rehabilitation is very much necessary for social well being because if people are not settled into their lives, the extremist elements might get ground in those areas again. This is the work in right direction. The TDPs have given huge sacrifices for the peace and stability of the country.”
