"Kashmiri people cannot be deprived of their right to self-determination": FO

In his weekly briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, Foreign Office spokesman Nafees Zakaria said it was the UN responsibility to solve international disputes including Kashmir. He said Pakistan wants to resolve all outstanding issues including Kashmir with India through talks, as war is not a solution to any issue. He asked international community to pressurize India to hold talks with Pakistan for resolution of Kashmir issue.

He was addressing the concluding session of one day "National Counter Extremism Workshop". It was held under the auspices of National Counter Terrorism Authority in Islamabad this evening. The Interior Minister said that there is a need to pool up human and national resources to bring positive change in the society. He called upon the religious scholars, media persons, politicians and opinion leaders to design a coordinated strategy in this regard.

French President Francois Hollande has congratulated new UK Prime Minister Theresa May on assuming her new office. He urged her to quickly begin talks on the country's divorce from the EU. In a phone call, Hollande reiterated his wish for early negotiations on Britain's departure from the European Union.

Pirzada Terms Pakistan Sports Loving Country

Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Mian Riaz Husain Pirzada has said that Pakistan is a sports loving country and has glorious past in sports. Addressing a seminar in Islamabad, he said Pakistan will participate in the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games going to be held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan next year.  He said that Pakistan and Turkmenistan enjoy deep rooted diplomatic, historic, cultural and religious ties since the time of inception of our relations.
