The three-day ninth Cholistan Jeep Rally will begin from Sunday along with a cultural show at the historical Derawar Fort in Bahawalpur.

Our Bahwalpur correspondent Sajjad Pervez reports that for the first time‚ two women drivers‚ one from Lahore and other from Karachi‚ are participating in the rally.

Four foreigners from Oman and 100 local drivers are expected to take part in the event.

The rally will be held on 215 kilometers long track‚ where 11 check posts have been set up.

An exhibition of the local handicrafts would also be held at the venue.

Punjab Cooperatives Minister Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channer told Sajjad Pervez that the event would help create a soft image of Pakistan and Cholistan desert in the world.
