PM inaugurates N-85 Surab- Hoshab road

He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Hoshab-Pangur-Sorab road at Turbat on Wednesday. The 448 kilometer road, which is important component of the Western Corridor of CPEC, has been completed at a cost of over 22 billion rupees to link Gwadar Port with National Highway network. It will also provide shortest link to Afghanistan and Central Asian Republics.

Four sub-committees formed for promoting Islamic banking

The government has constituted four Sub-Committees of Finance Ministry for the promotion and facilitation of Islamic Banking in the country. The Sub-Committee on Legal and Regulatory Framework chaired by the Governor State Bank will encourage conventional banks with large Islamic banking operations to convert into full-fledged Islamic banks.

CPEC to bring socio-economic uplift in Pakistan

Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal said China-Pakistan Economic Corridor will bring socio-economic uplift in the country.  Various projects of roads linkage, establishment of new hospitals and educational institutions are underway in less developed areas of Balochistan. 

USAID to provide $81M for Kurram Tangi Dam

USAID is to provide eighty one million dollars for Kurram Tangi Dam. An agreement to this effect was signed in Islamabad on Wednesday. Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif was also present on the occasion.

GDP growth in Pakistan expected to remain on track: ADB

The Asian Development Bank has downgraded economic growth in developing Asia to 5.6 per cent in 2016, below its previous projection of 5.7pc. However, for 2017, growth remains unchanged at 5.7pc. In a supplement to its ‘Asian Development Outlook’, ADB maintained that GDP growth in Pakistan is expected to be on track during the fiscal year ending June 2017, driven mainly by the service sector.
