ECO urges to enrich cooperation in diverse sectors

President Mamnoon Hussain has urged the member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization to enrich cooperation in the infrastructure and energy sectors.

Addressing a reception in honor of the participants of the annual meeting of the Regional Planning Council of the ECO in Islamabad, he said mutual cooperation among the ECO member states is imperative for the benefit of the people of the region.

The President said that the ECO countries have enormous potential for bilateral and multilateral trade as well as joint projects.

Mamnoon Hussain said effective regional cooperation in economic, social, cultural, technical and scientific fields is must to achieve the objectives of ECO charter.

He suggested that the ECO member countries could achieve regional prosperity by waiving mutual taxes.

The President said Pakistan being the current chair of the Economic Cooperation Organization is playing leading role to materialize the objectives of the organization.
