Govt to ensure basic facilities in Balochistan: President

President Dr Arif Alvi says provision of basic facilities like health, education and clean driniking water and maintenance of law and order in Balochistan is among the top priorities of the government.

He was talking to Governor Balochistan Amanullah Khan Yasinzai who called on him in Quetta on Wednesday.

The Governor briefed the president about overall law and order situation in the province and government's efforts to provide basic facilities to the people.

President Dr Arif Alvi is in Quetta on a day-long visit.

Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser, Governor Sindh Imran Ismail, Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed and Minister for Water Resources Muhammad Faisal Vawda are accompanying the president.

Later talking to media, the President said a project is being started for treatment of sewerage water to make it usable for consumption in Quetta.

Arif Alvi said he also had talk with Governor for setting up new universities in Balochistan to promote higher education in the province.

He said a railway line from Quetta to Gwadar is need of the hour.

The President said talks were held with provincial cabinet on all these issues as it is their job to launch and complete development projects.

He said he will ask the federal government to give concession to the province on prices of gas.

Dr Arif Alvi said Balochistan has the country's longest coastline and fish products worth ten billion rupees can be exported from there each year.
