Hamayun Iqbal Shami (Chairman, Pakistan Economic Forum): The government has taken good step through Ehsaas program in order to facilitate the people especially the people spending the lives below poverty line. Another good initiative is that the government eliminated 8 million beneficiaries of the welfare scheme included the top government officials and their families. The top priority of the government is to provide shelters to homeless people as it is the right of every individual. The development of the construction sector will generate economic activity and create immense job opportunities for the youth.
Dr. Shahid Hassan Siddiqui (Economist): The government is giving prime priority to the economic stabilization. As a result of government's economic policies, Pakistan managed to get bailout package by IMF. Now the motive of the government should be to provided relief to the people, reduce the inflation and provide jobs to the youth. Pakistan must shift towards exports as the key driver of growth rather than to rely on foreign aid. The government has its hands tied with reference to implementing growth-friendly policies when under an IMF programme.
Dr. Alia H. Khan (Economist): Some kind of unrest was increasing among the masses because of continuous increase in the inflation. The government must ensure that all the development projects underway are focused to facilitate the people of the country. The prudent economic policies of the present government are going to benefit the common masses. Tax reforms are the only tool in the world to get revenue that is expected to be utilized for social welfare. Pakistan at the moment has been facing economic challenges and is bound with limited available resources.
Senator Shibli Faraz (PTI leader): The present government since came into power, is regularly holding cabinet meetings in order to address the issues of the people. These meetings are useful to review the performance of ministries and to discuss the overall political and economic situation in the country. In today's meeting, certain decisions were approved. PM directed the concerned authorities to resolve the issues ,a common man is facing. Through Radio Pakistan, the initiatives of the government will be conveyed to the people.
Dr. A.Z. Hilali (IR Expert): Pakistan is willing to mediate in Middle East region to defuse the tensions. The United States seems to be in state of isolation as far as Iran issue is concerned. The European Union and other world powers are also intimating the United States that its policies will further worsen the regional situation. Pakistan has a clear stance that war is not the solution to any issue and not to be the part of any war anymore as it has already suffered badly in war against terror. Pakistan is making efforts at diplomatic level to bring the situation towards normalcy. Pakistan is always ready to play its role in order to defuse the ongoing tension among Gulf countries and United States.
Dr. Huma Baqai (IR Expert): Pakistan at this time is adopting a pro-active approach in order to defuse tensions in the Middle East region. Prime Minister Imran Khan directed foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi to visit Iran, Saudi Arabia and Oman to promote a diplomatic way forward to de-escalate the prevailing situation in the region. Pakistan being an important Islamic country and having important strategic location is emerging as an important stakeholder. Islamabad is ready to play the role of facilitators to normalize the situation in Middle Eastern region. Pakistan has made it clear that it will not let its soil to be used against any other country.
Tauseef Ahmed (Former Test Player): It is good development and big news for cricket lovers that international cricket is coming back to Pakistan. The credit of this achievement goes to our government, PCB and security forces. I am also thankful to Sri Lankan team which played test matches in Pakistan after 9 years and declared Pakistan a safe country to play. India is creating hurdles to damage international cricket in Pakistan. The peace has been restored in the country and there is no excuse left for the international teams to come and play in our country. Radio Pakistan has great contribution in promoting games in the country. Another good development is that all matches of Pakistan Super League are scheduled in Pakistan. This league will be helpful in bringing the hidden talents in the country.
Sadiq Muhammad (Former Test Player): Pakistan has great talent in cricket which is needed to be explored. It is good to see that international cricket has returned to Pakistan after a gap of many years. All the stakeholders are appreciated to convince the international teams and players to play in Pakistan. The promotion and advertisement will have a positive impact to attract the spectators in the ground. The banners and bill-boards in the entire country will be filled with the PSL promotions. The law and order situation in the country has improved to a great extent that motivated the players to come here. The importance of Radio Pakistan in promoting games can never be ignored and entire country can remain in touch regarding the development through this medium.
