Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif says the government is close to achieving the target of load shedding-free Pakistan.


In a statement, he said this cherished goal is going to be achieved as a result of the measures taken during the last four years.


Khawaja Asif said the average electricity generation has now increased to 18,052 megawatt, which was 11,804 megawatt in 2013.


He said no un-scheduled load shedding is being carried out in the country.



PML (N) leaders say the party leadership has always upheld the rule of law.


Talking to media in Islamabad on Tuesday, they said PTI Chairman Imran Khan has failed to provide money trail in the cases against him.


Daniyal Aziz said the Panama case is a conspiracy against the PML (N).


Hanif Abbasi said Imran Khan is trying to spread anarchy in the country.


He said PTI chairman should submit reply in the Supreme Court about the money trail and foreign funding of his party.



Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif Punjab government is spending billions of rupees to provide relief to the masses in the holy month of Ramazan.   



Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif says the provincial government has initiated 15 billion rupee-mega scheme to improve cleanliness and sanitation in rural areas.


Addressing a meeting in Lahore on Tuesday, he said this scheme has been started for the first time in the country. He said that villages will look neat and clean after the implementation of this programme.

Federal government has announced fully funded overseas scholarship for Ph.D. students in top universities of the world.


Sources of Higher Education Commission told our Peshawar correspondent that scholarships are being offered in Agriculture, Engineering and Technology, Management Sciences and Business Education, Medical Sciences, Physical Sciences and Social Sciences.

Chairman NAB Qamar Zaman Chaudhry says conviction rate in corruption cases has increased to about 76 percent due to NAB's proactive "National Anti-Corruption Strategy".


He was chairing NAB`s monthly coordination meeting in Islamabad on Tuesday.


The Chairman said the Bureau received about three hundred and forty three thousand complaints from individuals and organizations. Of them, over twenty eight hundred corruption references have been filed in accountability courts.



Naval Chief Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah has exchanged views on issues of bilateral importance and mutual interest with top military officials in Sri Lanka


He is on a five day official visit to that country at the invitation of Sri Lankan Navy Commander.


The Naval Chief was also chief guest at passing out parade ceremony at Naval and Maritime Academy Trincomalee.



In Occupied Kashmir, people staged protest demonstrations against Indian army and paramilitary forces who vandalized houses, shops and vehicles in Shopian district on Tuesday.


Media reports said that as soon as Pakistan won against Sri Lanka, locals came out of their houses at Vehil in Shopian and burst firecrackers to express their joy over the win.


Indian forces rushed to the village and barged into houses, ransacked shops and beat up whosoever came in their way.


Several people were also injured in the forces’ action.



In Occupied Kashmir, Dukhtaran-e-Millat has deplored the ill-treatment meted out to its illegally detained Chairperson Aasiya Andrabi and her associate, Fahmeeda Sufi inside the Amphala jail in Jammu.  


In a statement issued in Srinagar, DeM General Secretary Nahida Nasreen said that Aasiya Andrabi and Fehmeeda Sufi are political prisoners and not criminals.


She said that people particularly families of the two detained leaders are concerned over not shifting of Asia Andrabi and Fahmeeda Sufi to Srinagar from Jammu despite court orders.



In Bangladesh, thirty five people have been killed in landslides triggered by heavy rains in southern parts of the country.

Pakistan qualified for the semi-final by defeating Sri Lanka by three wickets at Cardiff on Monday night.



Radio Pakistan will broadcast three day special programs to mark the martyrdom anniversary of fourth caliph Syedna Hazrat Ali Karam Ullah Waj Ho from Thursday.


First program titled "Ameer ul Momineen Hazrat Ali Karam Ullah Waj Ho Sarchashma e Tasawwuf" will be aired on Thursday at 03:30 p.m. while the second program "Hazrat Ali Karam Ullah Waj Ho ki Fasahat o Balaghat" will be broadcast on Friday at 03:30 p.m.


Another program "Muqam e Saydena Ali Karam Ullah Waj Ho Sahaba e Kram ki Nazar Mien" will be aired on Saturday at 03:20 p.m. 


All programs will be broadcast on medium wave and FM-93 networks while all stations of Radio Pakistan will also broadcast three-day programmes in regional languages.                              



The fifth death anniversary of legendary singer Mehdi Hassan is being observed on Tuesday.


Born in Rajasthan in 1927 Mehdi Hassan belonged to traditional family of musicians.


He got his early music education from his father and uncle and began performing at a very young age.


In 1957, Mehdi Hassan started professional singing from Radio Pakistan primarily as a thumri singer.


He sang memorable songs for a large number of Pakistani films.


In 1964, his ghazal "Gulon mein rang bharay, baad-e-naubahar chale" written by renowned Pakistani poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz and composed by Rasheed Attre gave him eternal fame.


His unique style of ghazal singing earned him the title of "Shahanshah-e-Ghazal".


He was awarded many awards including Nigar Award Hilal-e-Imtiaz, Nishan-e-Imtiaz and Pride of Performance.


He breathed his last on 13 June 2012. 



Radio Pakistan will broadcast in its National Hook-up on Tuesday at 1530 hours, a special documentary about the role of Radio Pakistan under the documentaries series "RISHTA AWAZ KA" in connection with 70 years of Independence Celebrations of Pakistan.


Just after it another special feature programme in connection with the death anniversary of renowned poet and naat-khawan Hafeez Taib will be broadcast.


In another National Hookup at 1605 hours, a special feature programme in connection with the death anniversary of renowned singer "MEHDI HASAN" will be broadcast.
