The Government has taken a number of steps to upgrade the higher education sector on modern standards of information technology.
According to official sources, ninety four universities will be converted to smart campuses across the country with Wi-Fi blanket coverage enhancing access to latest education.
A Learning Management System will be devised to assess learning outcomes and speedy reporting of grades.
The system will assist teachers and mentors in gauging the productivity of classroom interactions with students and will help enhance quality of education.
Under the Pakistan Education and Research Network (PERN), higher educational institutions have been empowered with strong Information Communications Technology infrastructure that interlinks fifty cities across the country.
The facility will be extended to remaining areas of the country by completing the fibre ring from Karachi to Quetta and extending ultra-high speed connectivity to higher education institutions in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.
Similarly Online Learning Platforms are being set up to facilitate the students and teachers in having cheap, quick and easy access to study materials and innovative research activities.
