Punjab Budget with Total Outlay of Over RS 1681billion Unveiled
142 Billion Rupees of Development Projects have been saved during the Current Financial Year
Punjab budget for the next financial year with a total outlay of over 1681 billion rupees was unveiled on Monday. Enumerating the salient features of the budget proposals, Provincial Finance Minister Ayesha Ghaus Pasha said five hundred and fifty billion rupees have been allocated for development programme. She said 43 billion rupees have been allocated for health sector, while 27 billion rupees will be spent on improvement and expansion of road infrastructure. She said that computerization of land record has been completed in 27 districts and stamp paper system is also being computerized. The Minister said provincial government has saved 142 billion rupees of development projects during the current financial year. She said small farmers will be provided loans and for this purpose 17 billion rupees have been allocated. She said over 46 billion rupees have been earmarked for promotion of higher education. Ayesha Ghaus said two point five billion rupees will be spent for drip irrigation and 145 billion rupees have been allocated for law and order. She announced ten percent increase in salaries and pensions of government employees on the pattern of Federal Government. She said fifteen percent quota for women has been allocated in government jobs. Punjab Finance Minister said that the Provincial Revenue worth two hundred eighty billion rupees is expected during next fiscal year.
